County Parks
York County has some of the best county run parks I have ever seen that
accomidate so many types of recreational activity. We are very lucky to have
the cooperation York County Department of Parks to provide information about
features and activities. Below is a list of useful direct links to their

Shape Up PA
Shape Up PA is a state wide competition designed to jump start your fitness
programs. The great thing is you get a group of friends or co-workers and do it
together. Although this is a competition with other teams across the state the
real comptetion is with yourself and team members. Shape UP uses one of two
metrics to gauge progress, loss of weight or amount of activity it is your
choice. The program runs from 2/8 to 6/28 but you can still sign up since it is
really all about you.....
York Swing!!
This is a local Swing club that has classes so you to can learn to swing dance.
The club also sponsors a events throught the year for all levels of ability.
This is an excellent way to get fit and have fun doing it.
York Area Mountain Bike
Association
YAMBA is a local group of Mt. bike riders that excepts riders of all levels of
experience. If you want to learn about local trails and Mountain biking in

York County Cycling
Club
This is not a formal club with boards, meetings or any other time consuming
bureaucratic nonsense. This is a grass roots group of cyclist that would like
to encourage others to get out and ride. If you're like us you are tired of
riding alone and want to learn some new rides. This is a great way to expand
your cycling horizons, for bikes, rides and new friends.

Wanderers
The Wanderers are part of the American Volkssport Association. The York White
Rose Wanderers sponsor several area events and have a list of contacts to learn
more.
Hanover Cyclers
Hanover Cyclers has been sponsoring rides for some time, primarly the 32nd
Annual Hanover Cyclers Horse Farm Tour Sunday, May 21, 2006. This is a great
ride and I have done this rec ride more than one time.
York County Planning Commision
The planning commision has some good maps but also has long range planning and other useful information for environmental resources. There are also events and meetings to help you understand where the county may be going in the future.
